Montessori Kronberg gGmbH runs a private Montessori primary school, state-recognised as an independent school (Ersatzschule), and a Montessori Children's House in Kronberg im Taunus. Both grew out of a parents' initiative — the Children's House was founded in 1996, the primary school in 1999 — and today we have three mixed-age classes (years 1–4), each with two teachers. They are responsible for the extensive daily free work that is the heart of our teaching. From year 1, specialist teachers add English, music, ethics and media education. Because movement matters so much in Montessori education and in children's lives today, our sports lessons are taught by qualified external coaches from TRAIN WITH BRAIN in Frankfurt.
Our school is run as an open all-day school: reliable lessons every day from 8:00 am to 1:15 pm, complemented by a modular afternoon programme until 4:30 pm and holiday care. As an Ersatzschule we are bound by the Hessian education plan. On top of that, the Montessori method and materials give us more scope to nurture each child's abilities and to let children learn at different levels. Integrated subject lessons cover the parts of the Hessian curriculum that the Montessori materials do not, so that moving on to a secondary school after year 4 is effortless.
Our aim is to strengthen young people who act independently, autonomously and responsibly, who show curiosity and a willingness to learn, and who find their place and their role in the community. Our grounds lie close to nature on the edge of Kronberg-Schönberg, surrounded by woods, meadows and wildlife habitats, and offer countless opportunities to move and make discoveries outside the classroom.
Our work is guided by Maria Montessori's principle “Help me to do it myself” and by the values of respect, tolerance, community, personal responsibility and individual learning. The sole shareholder of the operating company is the Montessori-Fördergemeinschaft Kronberg e.V.
