A school at the edge of the woods
Our school sits on the edge of Kronberg-Schönberg, surrounded by a nature reserve of woodland, meadows and wetland habitats. The building is full of light, the distances are short — and the forest begins at the door.
As a state-recognised independent school we are bound by the Hessian standards for primary education. What we teach corresponds fully to the Hessian core curriculum.

The classroom as a tool
Every class group's room is equipped with the original Montessori materials up to and including year 6, alongside a great many other learning materials. All of it is freely within reach.
The prepared environment includes different places to work: quiet corners for concentrating alone or in small groups, and places made for talking things through.
In German and mathematics we use selected textbooks that bridge across to mainstream teaching — so that moving on afterwards works.
Feedback rather than ranking
From year 2 the children sit short assessments and give small presentations on what they have worked on. The teachers keep track of each child's development and meet regularly with child and parents.
At mid-year and at the end of the year the teachers assess each competence — together with the child, not over their head.
In year 4 a numerical report is added: as a leaving report and for applications to secondary school.
In every year as well: a report that sets out the child's particular strengths and is addressed to the child themselves.
Two teachers per class
Our teachers hold a full university degree and a solid grounding in education. Their attitude matters to us just as much: in Montessori education the teacher accompanies the process of learning rather than being its sole source.
Each class is taught by a team of two. That way children in both year groups always have someone they can turn to — and nobody disappears into the group.
All-day care and holidays
We are an open all-day school: guaranteed lessons from 8:00 am to 1:15 pm for every class, with optional lunch and afternoon care until 4:30 pm.
Holidays follow the Hessian school calendar: six weeks in summer, one week in autumn, three weeks at Easter, plus the variable Christmas break.
A playground that asks something of you
Laid out close to nature and deliberately not planned to the last detail: the playground asks for balance, stamina and cooperation — and invites children to divert water, to build and to climb.
