The prepared environment
Each room invites one kind of activity — from role play to focused work. The children choose freely where they want to be.
The classic Montessori materials for the senses, language and mathematics — ordered, within reach, and meant to be used independently.
Movement, nature and hands-on experience: our garden is a classroom under the open sky — in almost any weather.
A day in the Children's House
- 7:30–8:30
- Drop-off — arriving without a rush
- 8:30–10:30
- Free work, the heart of the morning: the children decide for themselves what to work on, where, with whom and for how long
- 10:45–11:15
- Morning circle in settled groups — songs, stories, conversation, birthdays
- from 11:15
- Garden time among the herb and flower beds — on Mondays a forest day in the nearby woods instead
- 12:30–2:00 pm
- A freshly cooked organic lunch, followed by half an hour of quiet time with a story read aloud
- 2:00–4:30 pm
- Free play in the garden or indoors
Pre-school
For us, pre-school does not begin in the final year but on the very first day. In the last Children's House year, projects of their own are added — “Researching with Fred”, their own outings, and close contact with the primary school.
That turns leaving the Children's House into a confident first day at school — often in the same building, among familiar faces.
