Founded by parents, carried by parents

It all began in 1995 with six families who wanted a different kind of education for their children. That parents' initiative became an association, the association became a children's house, and then a primary school.

To this day the association is the sole shareholder of Gemeinnützige Montessori Kronberg GmbH — and through their vote at the members' meeting, parents have a say in where the Children's House and the school go next.

Thirty years in five steps

1995Six parents found Montessori-Fördergemeinschaft Kronberg e.V.
1996The association founds the Montessori Children's House.
1999The Montessori primary school follows.
2001The Children's House and the primary school come under one roof.
2012The association brings both settings together in Gemeinnützige Montessori Kronberg GmbH, and has been its sole shareholder ever since.

Becoming a member

For all parents with children in the Children's House and the primary school, membership is part of joining — it is how parents take part in decisions.

Beyond that, anyone who wants to support Montessori education in Kronberg can join: grandparents, former families, neighbours, local businesses.

The association funds what the ordinary budget cannot — materials, projects, things for the building and the garden — and organises events such as the garden day and the second-hand sale.

What comes of it

Two examples from this year — both started by parents, both carried by many hands.

Spring and summer

The “Everything for children” sale

On 1 March 2026, clothes up to size 176, shoes, books, games and ride-on toys change hands. The proceeds go back into the Children's House and the school.

May 2025

Garden day

With wheelbarrows and spades, parents and children developed the natural grounds further — a day the Kronberger Bote also reported on.
