A visit from the dentist, and plenty to marvel at

Our year 1 children welcomed a special guest: our partner dentist Dr A. Radtke, whose own children attend the school, came with intriguing models, practical advice and plenty of answers pitched just right for children.
With great wonder the children explored how teeth are built, how decay happens — and how a toothbrush, floss and good food protect against it. The lifelike models were especially striking; on them the children could try out for themselves how to brush properly.
Learning you can touch
Through the Great Stories the children come to see how everything in the world hangs together — including what goes on inside their own bodies. For many this was their first encounter with a dentist in a relaxed setting. So the visit went far beyond dental hygiene: it built trust, curiosity and an awareness of how we can look after ourselves.
