Sports day: athletics, community and the joy of moving

From early in the morning the MTV Kronberg sports ground filled with excited chatter, fluttering race numbers and a tingle of anticipation in the air.
Running, long jump or throwing — with genuine ambition, team spirit and a great deal of fun, the children showed what they are capable of. It was not only about performance but above all about personal achievement and shared experience.
Personal achievement rather than medals
Everyone could try things out, surpass themselves and experience success at their own speed. That strengthens not only a sense of one's body but also confidence. To finish, the whole school community came together for a barbecue.
In the spirit of Montessori education, what matters is not comparison but individual development. Here, movement is not a counterweight to learning — it is part of it.
