A farewell with heart and a taste for research

In mid-June we said goodbye to our pre-school children, glad and sorry in equal measure. Many of them had been part of our Montessori community for several years — and the farewell was fittingly ceremonious.
The day began with a highlight for every small explorer: as part of “Researching with Fred”, the children proudly presented their own favourite experiment to their families. With shining eyes and shrewd explanations they showed what they had learned.
Then came the emotional part: every child received a researcher's certificate, a leaving bag and — as a very special gift — Fred the research ant as a soft toy to take to school. With personal words in verse, the educators said goodbye to “their” children.
After that the children set off on their own treasure hunt around the Children's House — searching, laughing and puzzling well into the evening.
